For one thing it’s somewhat dated. The style tends to be emblematic so until it’s consodered “retro cool” it’s avoided by manufacturers who want technology products to look “cutting edge.” For another t obscures case design which is a big part of brand image for most manufacturer. Apple made it part of their image but has since switched to a “classier” scheme. Which is the next point. Designs like that are perceived as unmprofessional or immature. You also need to carry more inventory to cater to preference and it’s riskier than a more neutral black, white, etc. clear plastics have draw backs in use, can become discolored from light exposure and allow light in to light or temperature sensitive areas, show scratches easily, and many consumer electronics now are so tightly packaged you wouldn’t see much, or hide things like weights designed to make them “feel higher quality.” All in all- it’s not a “safe” business move and people don’t tend to be wowed as much by solid state electronics
