Sometimes the milk is frozen and has a big ice chunk inside the bottle, and running water over it helps it melt faster. Maybe as they were attempting this, they made the water flow too fast and caused the force field effect.

Well, I mean, it's a pretty weak force field. Look how easily a human hand was able to penetrate it! Unless it's a forcefield specifically designed to prevent energy-based weaponry but allow physical objects access...

Yes yes California is in a drought because of someone most likely not anywhere near there using a small amount of their abundant water to thaw their milk and has nothing to do with the inherent weather pattern and governmental/corporate mismanagement and exploitation of water resources there.
