Certain large city's do it. But some put a cap on how much you can give for cash. Like my brother they gave him 50 the first time and 25 the second time and only 10 after that. And that is in a life time. And only once a month for cash.
I only got an associate’s degree, only work one job and for most of my marriage my wife stayed home with our kids and I make enough to give my blood and plasma away when I have time.
I’m an outside technician for a telecom company. That’s as much as I’ll say about that. I do live in a lower cost of living area but really I just live within my means. I have friends that have better houses and cars and go on extravagant vacations but they also swim in dept.
This is lame
Father was public school teacher for 32 years. Everyone cries that they work two jobs....you are one as a teacher and usually another when summer roles around.
Most non administrator positions work 9 months a year. Few to any weekends and get almost as many holidays off as the banks.
Government benefits and pension. Rolling vacation and sick time. At retirement my father had 2 years of time off saved up and he cashed it all out.
Prorate for a full twelve months he would make around 65-70k and that was in 2001
Always home for dinner. Never had to bring home work, because during the day he had time to lesson plan and grade papers.
I mean I’m sure it was a lot easier back Then. Expectations were lower. Nowadays teachers must address every individuals students needs. Not saying that your father didn’t do it. But having to plan different activities for childr everyday is exhausting and leaves you with no time t write lesson plans or grade papers. On top of that add the fact that you must collect data from your students on a daily basis. Identify areas of needs and provide those children with support . You have to do all of that in 50 minutes if you’re lucky. Some schools will only give you a 45 minute period. Plus you have to buy your own supplies and at times you have to buy food, clothes and hygiene items for your children. Because once they step in that classroom they are yours for 10 months. Teachers never stop thinking about their students. Unless you work in the suburbs where poverty doesn’t exist. Then you’ll have time to do more. Unfortunately for some of us, this is reality.
Some people do it because it’s a passion and they want to do something productive. Teachers are needed if not you wouldn’t be able to write and make your stupid comment.
Some people borrow A LOT of money to get a college degree and maybe a graduate degree from their dream college without any thought to being able to pay off the loans. Some people HAVE to,live in San Francisco or New York, and love the lifestyle but never cease to complain about the cost.
But, OK, tax me more to pay teachers more. I get four weeks of vacation, and teachers get the whole summer plus a couple weeks at Christmas. How will you tax them their time off to transfer some of that to me?
