Of course, but I would add that if you own a gun or guns you should have a healthy respect if not fear of the danger they represent when in use. That not only keeps you safe while you have your fun but also others.
The right to not own a gun??? Is that a right? Try "it's close to impossible to own a gun because of the required background checks, paperwork, rules, and even then you're not allowed to carry it in public, ever, if your profession doesn't require it. You take it to the shooting range, and leave it there, in a safe."

@anthracite you absolutely have the right to not own a gun. Nowhere in our laws is there mandatory gun ownership. Not everyone has the right to own a gun however because they forfeit their right by breaking certain laws or have a mental illness which would disqualify them for owning a firearm. But we all have the right to not own one if we choose to.
And that's the difference between pro-gun people and anti-gun people. While I would encourage everyone to own a forearm and be familiar with it, I would never force it on another person, but anti-gun people want to force their philosophy onto me, and that just ain't right.
