And even people who do underestimate how *hard* it is. Seriously, conductors spend *hours* working on technique on tricky portions of the music where the meter is complicated.

I had a friend who was a conductor for a choir and apparantly there is an entire language in wavy hand motions.

there is. In an orchestra or a band usually you technically learn two languages for doing the same thing and then have to align them.
