Some supervisors tell cashiers not to enter them manually for some reason. I had one tell me once we had to call for a new item to be brought rather than typing it in.
I always feel super bad for everyone in these situation : the cashier who gets paid by the number of items/clients they scan and so lose a bit of time, sometimes gets heavy sighs from assholes in line even though it's the machine's fault, and the nice people waiting in line who also lose time.
Even if it takes 4 seconds idk it makes me really uneasy.
Am I alone in this case?
No. I'm guessing you are in the majority. Technology is great, when it works. It's when it doesn't work that we all get awkward. Some get frustrated, some get angry and some get embarrassed.
Pixels don't lie.
