This is why I believe that very few polygamous relationships work out/are actually healthy (the jealousy part, the rape and murder part is hopefully not as common).
Don't get me wrong, if people feel that's right for them, I'm totally happy for them. I just think it's against most humans' nature.
My take is this: to have a solid relationship between two people, you need to have each person be well-balanced in themselves, and then have their relationship be well-balanced between them. When you add a third person, the number of required well-balanced relationships jumps to seven - one for each person and one for each pair and one for the trio. That's probably not going to be attainable in the long term.
