Well iirc testicle does actually mean something along the lines of "to bear witness."

So if you failed your testimony, I'm not sure where that leaves you
“Quiz” is not short for “quizzical.” But, if we want to be technical- test is a shortened form of the Latin root. Testa evolved to testu and testum, then came to French and then English. Originally the word meant an earthen pot. That was taken and used to refer to a pot of molten metal, and then to refer to molten precious metals like gold and silver, where one would need to confirm the quality and presence of said metals as described by a producer or seller. From that usage the idea evolved that to “test” something was to confirm its truthfulness or correctness, thus when we take a test, we are proofing the correctness of our knowledge of a subject just as one would proof the correctness of a described quantity and quality of metal. “Quiz” was actually slang for a person on the receiving end of a prank, or one who was odd. Quiz is actually the origin of the word quizzical, so quiz cannot be short for quizzical as it precedes the word it is supposedly short for.
(I don’t actually know - I’m just guessing)
