A lot of crashes are caused not necessarily by fast driving, but bad driving
I'm certainly not advocating speeding, but consider this (obviously fictitious) example. Which is safer, a car doing 50 on a given road driven by Ben Collins (the Stig), or a car doing 40 on the same road driven by Joan Collins?
One way to look at is all crashes are caused by bad driving. Speeding, driving impaired (drugs, medicine, alcohol, tired), not wearing your glasses, etc. are all examples of things that contribute to bad driving.
If an accident occurs 10 mph is a lot especially if it's head on. 2 cars going 40 hitting is a big difference from 2 cars going 50 or even 1 car going 50 and the one going 40
