Yes, why? If they don't mind and you don't mind and you contribute to the household is there a particular reason you'd need to spend the extra money just to "move out"? When moving out at 18 and straight into the work force and housing barely cost a 10% of your income it was reasonable. Nowadays when housing could cost upwards of 70%-80% of your income it's just not worth it if other means are applicable.
I am an Indian, ever since childhood I have been taught one thing at home which is whatever my parents and grandparents do, is for me and my sibling. They earn for us, provide for us and much more, right upto the day they can. And then, the time starts when we earn and take care of them. The time starts when we look after them; Provide for them; and the most important thing is be there for them when they are in dire need.
I don’t understand why would children move out at the age of 18, work their asses off and earn a small amount of money and usually waste the most of it on house rent and everyday stuff, when you can stay back with your parents, help them everyday in different ways, study and gain knowledge upon how to do things better and then work while staying at the same place. This would save you from rent and unnecessary expenses while giving you quality time with your family.
Do correct me if I am wrong.
It’s a desire for independence. To feel like you can provide for yourself. For the record I didn’t leave my parents until I was 21. I hung around for the exact reasons you named.
Good. I'm 17 and plan on staying with them till death.
And independence? My parents don't make me feel as if I am a captive in here in the first place, so, I don't require this 'independence'.
I can provide for myself and them too by staying in here.
I moved out at 17. Helped me learn a lot on my own. Makes me proud of everything I accomplished. Had to scrape and fight for a lot. I don't take much for granted and I love the knowledge that even if I had to start all over I would succeed. Different generation though. Don't really need to know how to balance a checkbook, do your own taxes, ect.
Very nice
