Bitch: "THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN SOCIETY WHEN DISNEY HAS NO PRINCESSES OF COLOR!!!"
Me: *points out the wide diversity of disney princesses* "There's a serious problem in society when people feel the need to make problems where they aren't any instead of talking about the real issues."
me: there is a serious problem with white people taking offense and championing causes for natives/blacks/etc that they can't actually relate to nor understand correctly
Simple math y’all. There’s around 9 white princesses and around 7 princesses of color. So there’s more white princesses than princesses of color. Not only this, but the poc represent around 4 different racial racial or ethnic groups. Whereas the white princesses represent just one (white people). The ratio there is 9:1.75. We could round up and say it’s 9:2, white princesses to a different minority group. Idk about y’all, but that doesn’t seem fair to me.
@ guest - They are white because that is where the stories originated. It wouldn't make sense for a French princess from the 1600's to be a poc. There are only 7 white princesses and if you want to get technical they are mostly from different countries. Snow White and Rapunzel were German. Cinderella and Belle are from France. Aurora depends on the version (The Perrault version is French, the Brothers Grimm version is German, and the Bastille version is Italian.) Ariel is Danish and Merida is Scottish.
Actually there’s lots of different versions of these stories from different cultures. The Grims Brothers are the most popular, but there are different versions. Additionally many cultures have their own legends and tales which Disney could use for movies, such as they did with Moana and Mulan. I’m suggesting they use more of those. Assuming you can read, you’ll see I didn’t suggest altering the races of any of the characters, just including more people of color. Also the math still holds up :)
Why does "someone else" always have to change or I,please tell something *you* want? Disney should do xyz, some other company should do abc. If it's important, then do,it,yourself. Write a compelling and riveting story that movie companies would be nuts to NOT make into a movie. But for goodness sake, stop trying to make everyone else conform to your view of fairness.

"There's only 1 French princess we need to up that number"
