teaching/telling people not to rape will hardly have any impact though
do you tell someone who is stealing from you "hey, dont do that, it's illegal"
they all know what they are doing and that's wrong and fucked up yet they're doing it anyways
like that "tech your kids not to bully" thing. it wont fucking work. it's unrealistic expectation so better to tech your kids how to defend themselves.
you can hope for the world to be better all you want, it aint happening
all you got is you, bring a gun/knife (and learn to use them properly), lock your door, dress right, etc. protect yourself.
??? O hon, we both know that ain’t true! What if your attacker overpowers you and stabs you or shoots you? What if your attacker is a family member? What if your attached forces their way through the door? Also people raped people when we all wore like 15000 layers and collars up to our chins. Rape isn’t about attraction a lot of the time, but about power..
Also women DO protect themselves, but we are still attacked. Clearly protecting ourselves isn’t doing enough, and at the very least teaching others to be better helps. (Note: men are attacked too, though they usually don’t go through as many precautions. Also men are attacked less despite these fewer precautions, just fyi)
Get a grip girl and enter reality. There’s nothing you can do ‘better’ to protect yourself from being assaulted. Putting the onus on victims for not protecting themselves enough doesn’t work. Only prosecuting the guilty does.
I genuinely can't tell if this is a troll or not but if it is, hats off to you, guest. You are magnificent. You lost one point for lousy grammar but you genuinely made me question my own sanity MULTIPLE TIMES during that ride. I mean, wow.

That being said, for people who maybe misunderstood @rosalinas comment, I'm pretty sure she's saying thieves are thieves, terrorists are terrorists, and rapists are rapists. There are just some crappy people in the world so you need to learn to protect yourself as reasonably as possible from all three. Don't blindly trust that you'll be okay because you think the world owes you something.
Many sexual abusers do claim to not ‘know’ when someone is consenting or not. And imo this plays into societal ideas of women not having sex drives like men do, which leads to the belief that women aren’t full and active participants in sex. So she’s in the wrong for implying that only men are sexual abusers, but she does point out an issue that apparently needs to be addressed.
It's the whole how dare you tell ME something I'M okay with or even agree with is wrong. YOU'RE wrong and don't you try to use that fake logic thing because YOU can't possibly be defending yourself against ME because you're wrong and I know you know it too.
Teaching men not to rape is appropriate. Because the lesson is about teaching boundaries, consent, respect, and valuing women as equals in a society of longstanding female oppression. The aim is to teach men to challenge the everyday, normalized messages of superiority over women that is ingrained through subverted messages of “being strong” “dominating” “in charge.”
Teaching Muslims (or whatever stereotyped group) not to blow things up is just an inaccurate comparison, because 1. It would be teaching MEN not to blow things up and 2. Because these men are RADICALIZED AND TAUGHT THAT THROUGH VIOLENCE THEY ARE POWERFUL. Similar use of strength and dominance mindset.
As an aside, the fact that rape and violence is committed most often by men does not negate that women can be perpetrators. It just points to a larger societal trend and addressing the larger trends is more effective in shifting the overall outcomes
No, it’s not implying that. It’s simply saying that statistically, men are more likely to rape and blow things up. Why is that? There’s no reason why men should be more likely than women to commit an act of violence. If there is a biological issue, then society should do its best to restrain that impulse for the safety of all. If it isn’t biological (and I don’t think men HAVE to be more violent than women) then it’s something we’re teaching men as a society and we should un-teach it. :)
Men are an oppressed class, women are an oppressed class. Everyone is oppressed and no one gives a shit. 99% of the population doesn't give a single shit about anything including this.

To them it's that simple.
