Why would the farmers be happy about him dying? The demand side of their market just disappeared and egg prices plummeted. Now the French government is going to have to inject capital into the industry to keep it going until it can find equalibrium.
That's funny until you remember that the French government at the time was actually overtaking the people to the point of starvation, and the people would in fact start killing the aristocracy in mass in less than a decade.
