this statue is around 50 meters tall. The colossus was assumed to be around 30 meters tall before its destruction. and this one is far more intricately designed.

Among hundreds of gods, why choose god of war though? Usually people choose the symbol of prosperity, justice, enlightenment, or their heroes as statue.

The statue is of Guan Yu, a Chinese general who was later on deified. So I guess they made it to honor him.
