The problem is that the two are becoming inseparable. The same people complaining about rampant systemic sexism in the US are the same people putting Linda Sarsour as a feminist hero.
It’s a lot easier to effect change at home. You can’t exactly vote to give women in other countries rights. You could POSSIBLY vote to use military force to compel another country and culture to your will- but what? If a woman isn’t part of a paramilitary lobbyist front for terrorist activism against the patriarchy she’s a hypocrite or faking? Besides, the logic is faulty. People suffer or starve while we browse memes. Does that mean no one here cares about anything, or that you wouldn’t buy lunch or get food from the kitchen of someone next to you right now was hungry? The person who made this is pointing out hypocrisy or skewed priorities- but there are more pressing causes and examples than these right? So they’re doing the same thing themselves. It’s kinda daft isn’t it?
