When my oldest brother was a toddler about 5 years old my Dad and Mom was going to the store with him and they both got out of the car and went to get him out but his door was locked. This was before power locks. They were those old silver pull locks. Well they tried to go to the other door but it was locked. My Dad and Mom locked their doors when they got out the car and my Dad couldn't find the keys. They were in the seat.
Also this was when car seats for kids looked like a roller coaster seat lol so no buckles.
Well my Dad was an EMT so he called some cop buddies and they all came to get my brother out.
They were all trying to unlock the driver's door. When all sudden they hear a click. They think it is the door but it is my brother opening the other door on my mom's side of the car. He stepped out of the car and said "TAH DAH!!!"
And that is why his nickname was little ass. Lmao
My brother did this when he was really young, we got pizza and it was a really warm day, and then my mom came to pick me up from school, and stepped out of the car for a moment to talk to the teacher, and my brother pushed the lock down. Being hot as heck (it was about 35 C) plus having oily pizza fingers, my brother was unable to lift the lock and got stuck in the car. He was also in a babygrow, so basically boiling inside. My mom tried breaking the window with a brick, but that didn't work, and we called a locksmith, but they took forever. We tried pulling the lock with a wire, telling him to open the window, but he was too small to roll the window down, and too oily/sweaty/crying too lift the lock up. I can't remember how we got him out, but it remains a tale in the family.
One day I was just coming home from shopping and busy unloading the groceries, My cat went inside the car without anyone knowing. no one use the car for the next 3 days. We've been looking for her everywhere but then on the 3rd day, i was going to go somewhere, opened the car door and voila she's there. Jumped out and begged for food.
We're so worried, like, is she dehydrated or hungry and all but she's like super fine. Only super hungry.. And the next day, i was about to take the car for cleaning, she jumped inside the car again, I was like, "catto, you've been locked for three days without food and why aren't you got traumatised or smtg.. " smh she's so chill. I think she's a bit of a dummy.
So from then on we have to check every corner of the car before locking the car.
Aww, how cute. My cat does that except not with my car. She always goes into the laundry room always gets locked in there at night by accident so i have to check every night for her. I think it is because that is where we kept her when she was a kitten because we had to seperate her and her sister from our dog.
We had these tall cardboard boxes that had a metal bar for hanging coats on for storage ( https://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Image/GetMedia/?id=19405&media=9571 those, except the very top would be closed).
'
Eery single time we had one out (always full to the brim of winter coats), our male cat would go up to it, eyeball it for a second, and then jump in.
'
Shortly after we'd hear the thump of him hitting the bottom, followed by a rather pathetic meow as he realized that, once again, he was, indeed, stuck. Happened every damn time. He wasn't dumb, but he NEVER had a plan.
He actually jumped through the gazebo over a neighbour's hot tub once when he was pissed off about something. He liked to get into trouble when he was mad (or bored) so he went over and attempted to jump ONTO it... and it apparently had a tear in it he didn't notice... which tore further under his weight. The hot-tub was closed at the time, luckily. Cue the THUMP.
