There is a thin line between dark humor and offensive humor. If you make a joke about dead babies, it can be funny if you do it right. If your audience is expecting and young mothers and fathers, it's not going to go over well. If your audience is a bunch of drunk college students, most of them will probably laugh. It's really about timing and who your audience is. Making a joke about a school shooting during a memorial for children that died in a school shooting isn't funny, it's cruel. Making a joke about the Holocaust in front of your Jewish friends isn't funny, it's fucking mean. If someone doesn't like your joke, apologize. Don't say it again. It's really that simple.
Idk, I’ve seen a post on here before, something about a school shooting, and the comment is ‘can you imagine what their parents are going through’ and the response is ‘probably coffin brochures’ ... I find that very funny, regardless of poor timing and insensitivity.
Okay, I see what you mean if you're in person, timing and environment is important when trying to be funny. This is the internet, this site is not a person to person interaction until someone decides to chime in. Key word is "decides" if you don't like something or find it offensive, move on and decide to ignore it. Who cares if something on the internet hurt your feelings? Certainly not the person who posted the thing you're offended by. That's the beauty of it, you choose what you interact with on the internet, sometimes in person one doesn't have a choice depending on the situation they're in. You're going to see stuff or read something you don't like all the time on the web, you can't control what people do. Just like they can't control what you do.
NO NO NO NO. Your 3rd party perspective doesn't fly. It's a choice to be offended. A pregnant lady can find a shtick about a dead baby just as funny, you don't fucking know her. You don't know the 85 year old Jewish guy who actually gets a kick about surviving that shit. Your 3rd party perspective can go fuck itself.
if we had to censor everything, we'd wind up with nothing.
You’re super correct dude. I believe I’ve stated on this site before:.. My life has been extremely effected by people who’ve committed suicide, but I’ve heard some top notch suicide jokes that just make my day.
