Okay, I honestly don't blame you. My first time hearing Despacito was last spring-- it was my first semester of Spanish class, and I (being an enormous bloody swot) had decided to listen to the radio en espaƱol every day to improve my skills. Despacito came on when I was in the car, and I was jamming along picking out the words I knew-- until it got to "Quiero desnudarte a besos despacito." /I want-- I want to do something slowly-- a besos, that's 'with kisses,' right? Desnudarte... Desnudar you... I want to something you slowly with kisses.../ Thus was my thought process.
.
Needless to say I looked up the full translation when I got home. I still remember the pain of falling out of my chair from laughing so hard-- and I'm still amazed that they actually played it on a spanish-speaking station. It fucking /earned/ its place on my playlist, where it resides to this day...
I first heard it on my 2nd half of grade 12, the same time period as my 1st spanish class and the point where I was starting to really get into spanish music
My husband worked in a cabinet shop a while ago and everyone there was Russian, so they were always playing Russian music(mostly rap). So we're driving one day and my husband puts on some Russian rap and he's rapping along with it, like really getting into it lol I asked if he knew what they were saying and he goes "No, but this sh*t bumps!"
