No joke. Only dog I have EVER intentionally kicked is a chihuahua mix thing in my apartment complex. The owners would just let it and its 2 companions out to run around and it was always going after kids, to the point most kids didn't even play outside. I was pushing my daughter (about 2 1/2 at the time) in her stroller and it came after her, snarling and snapping trying to bite her foot even while she tried pulling it into her stroller. I ended up having to kick the thing to get it away from her so we could get out of there.
There is another one that always comes after my dog barking and acting like its so big and bad, challenging mine. It's just damn lucky my girl is so well behaved and docile, since my 70+lb pit could probably swallow it whole.
.
Out of all the chihuahuas I've encountered I think I've only know MAYBE 2 that weren't immediately agressive even when in public or other people's homes.
If I recall correctly chihuahuas and daschunds are among the most aggressive breeds. Tbh if a little dog like that was constantly running around I'd probably call animal control or take it to a shelter. Animals deserve better owners than this bullshit.

Side note-- if you like pit bulls you may like the new York bully crew. They work really hard to try and save them from ignorant people and bad situations
As are cocker spaniels. And animal control in Vegas is more concerned with coyotes and the occasional cougar, or the INSANE number of illegal/dangerous exotic pets, picking up unleashed chihuahuas isn't high on their list. And even when I complained to the management office the owner would just claim it has slipped out and it wouldn't happen again

In that scenario I feel like I'd be taking it to the animal shelter saying I'd found the dog wandering and it's owners were nowhere around. I'm not saying that's what you should've done BTW. It sounds like a frustratingly stupid situation on all counts
The only two Chihuahuas I met that weren't pure evil belonged to one lady who was in front of me at the line at a phone repair shop. They just came up to me and wanted to be pet. I was pretty shocked at how calm and nice they were, maybe the lady was a trainer.
I’ve never met a nice chihuahua, but I’ve only met nice dachshunds and pit bulls. Specifically, my neighbor’s old gal has the biggest sad puppy eyes and upon meeting anything will lay on her back and wait for it to pet her.
My pit will dance around and bounce like a bunny until someone goes to pet her, then she sits perfectly still, tongue half lolling. She will also behave completely differently around kids, not nearly as hyper, she becomes super gentle. Probably the sweetest dog I've known
I have a 88 lb Standard Poodle. He is very gentle but walks right up to people to say Hi and some people are leary, as they should be. My FedEx driver was leary of my guy and told me there are two Poodle in the rural end of town that are aggressive. If they are not penned up he will not deliver there. There is a big Poodle at our dog park that is damn aggressive also. The owners won't stop bringing him to the park but should.
Poodles were originally used as guard dogs iirc. So being afraid of them is hardly irrational.

If you fear Labrador puppies, on the other hand.... (I'm jk)
I am generally frightened by dogs as a whole, but once I become familiar with them I am ~usually~ fine. A few of my exceptions include chihuahas. They are so MEAN! And so loud! What's wrong with them? Why are they so angry? Why do they bite so hard? Why?
Tbh 9/10 I've found small dogs to be way more aggressive and a lot louder. Big dogs almost always are a lot more gentle (except when they jump up sometimes). I was very pushy with dogs when I was younger (I had no fear for some reason, even when it probably would have been a good thing). I'd climb all over big dogs, push them over to lie down, occasionally pull their tails (to play, like a short tug, not just stand there yanking on them. I was a kid, what did I know), etc etc etc. Never got bit by one once. Little dogs I've been bit probably at least 3 times and been around them far less

I think smaller dogs are trying to compensate for their size, and because they don't do as much damage, people let them get away with more-- including barking. It's part of what's make me less fond of ankle-biting species
This is truth. Chihuahuas are walking turds that bark. I'm sure there are some sweet ones out there, but the ones I've met have been jerks. But the german shepherds? the pitts? The rotties and the doberman, and the great danes... all sweeties.
In my experience, the most fearsome thing about pitbulls are their tails. Get that wiggle-butt-tail-wagging and next thing it looks like someone took a bat to your shins.
I've only met ONE small dog that wasn't an absolute terror, but the owner was experienced with dogs and actually trained it instead of keeping it for aesthetic reasons.
