Actually it's called the Sherman Crab Flail Tank, It was developed by the British for D-Day and not after the War. It was one of a whole series of specialist tanks designed to help with the invasion (Such as the somewhat better know Duplex Drive Amphibious Tanks) that were nicknamed "Hobart's Funnies" after the Major General Percy Hobart who oversaw their development, and later commanded the 79th Armored Division that was equipped with these vehicles.
