This is the reason paper cuts hurt so bad. A knifes edge cuts cleanly while paper is very jagged and tears rather than cuts

But it looks so smooth to the naked eye!

Scanning electron microscopes are amazing, you should see mites, larvae, and nanofibres under there. I used to do work on them as analyst and every time I could I got so excited because it is so satisfying.
