also, i'f the treehuggers didn't make the government buckle and make it to were we needed to use plastic bags in stead of the brown paper ones that DETERIORATE IN WATER we'd be a lot better off.
This honestly infuriates me because the things that would make an actual sizable difference get over looked because they make someone a heap of money. I'd rather have a planet to live in comfortably, that hasn't had other animals pushed out of their homes or starved to death, than have an iphone or any other of the heap of pointless things killing the planet
Yessss another cup user! First time I'm seeing another one online.
I'm similar in that I use a cup (and a cloth pad in case of leaks), I have a plastic non-BPA bottle (it's supposed to last for 10 years and will be recycled), my phone isn't an iPhone but let's be honest it's all made by Chinese kids, with tech you really don't have a choice, most of my clothes are thrifted. I vote with my wallet too but it's sad to see how few people do.
I tried the cup to reduce waste but it was even painful, and it was the smallest i could find, any advice? I really want to stop throwing away so much garbage every month but i don't know any other alternatives
Which one did you try? They don't just come in different sizes, some are harder or softer as well. My first was a mooncup and I found it a bit painful and couldn't believe how hard it felt in comparison to the ruby cup!
Yeah my first was painful too but that was because it was too wide for me. Now I have a smaller but harder one and it's fine. The first few cycles might be trial and error but once you get the right one, it will save you tons of money and it will be better for the environment. Not to mention you can just sell the ill-fitting one, most people don't mind it's been used as long as you boil it to properly disinfect it.
There's a website somewhere out there that compares all the cups by size, firmness, and brand. Let me see if I can find it... ah, there it is. https://putacupinit.com/chart/
Since your cup hurt you, you should probably look for something soft with a small diameter. I personally use Yuuki, it's a company from my country so it's easily available here and they also give you this neat little box which makes it possible to disinfect it in the microwave, but Yuuki is also one of the hardest ones on the market so probably not the right one for you.
Oh also if you're a beginner you definitely want something with a stem. Makes it easier to grab on and maybe pull down a little bit so you can reach the bottom.
I mean, as the post implies, it doesn’t matter how much we as individuals do. Even if every human on earth reduced our waste as much as possible, we’d still see climate change and global warming due to companies polluting the earth. Telling people to vote with their wallet is a very small-minded solution to a bigger problem; and it’s not one that’s actually feasible for those who are poorer (seeing as eco friendly products can cost more money). Plus seeing there are about 5 big companies which control all the other little ones, you’re likely going to eventually pump your money back into the biggest polluters on the planet. The only real way to quit giving them money would either to learn each and EVERY business they have ties to, and limit your options by half.. or completely isolate yourself. I think a better solution would be to introduce legislation holding these companies accountable.
@ewqua thank you! I hope i find some that fits, when i bought mine i didn't know there were different grades of hardeness, but it's quite obvious now that you said it
I will give it another opportunity :)
Vote with your wallet.
Reusable menstrual products? I didn't know that was a thing...
