Teach your kids bills are more important than habbits than you won't have to worry about drugs or fortnite skins.
MY KID SPENT WELL OVER 300 DOLLARS LAST YEAR ON FORTNITE ALONE!!! DAMN SKINS!
Im still in high school and spent $5 on the game and realised it was shit, waste of time and money, so i agree with this. Tell the government to change the curriculum to help with our future so we dont get bored of school and play stupid games. (i say this even though i like playing video games every now and again)
No the point of school is to give you the basics of learning and give you the opportunities to branch out to any career you want. It isn't there to tell you everything there is to know. It is to give you the foundation and the know how to build up. It isn't schools or society fault that the majority of the students think there is only a one level floor plan. It takes the individual to pursue the next levels of knowledge.
Agreed again, but im saying instead of teaching us to find the value of X, teach us to do taxes, Mortages and things that you will remember for life and have value
in america students are just bodies to boost numbers for funding. Actually getting them learned about stuff doesnt matter to the school at all. an example of this being how common rules being put in place so that even if an assignment isnt turned at all 50% of points are still gained are.
I see a little truth all around. School has several functions. Part of school is to acclimate you to social norms and the way our system operates- including pointless BS and arbitrary metrics. Now- harsh truth time. Not every kid is going to be a superstar. But by the nature of society we need more janitors than the people who design the buildings they clean. So the kids who are able to learn to function well in the establishment tend to go on and do so. The kids of exceptional drive or talleny or intelligence who rebel go on to innovate and spread change in industry and society. The kids who can’t figure it out, or who can’t by virtue of their individual strengths find a niche which allows them to excel.. tend to not unless they “get it” later in life. And the kids who keep their heads down and don’t stand out in any way but get by tend to move on to that in their careers. No one likes to think they are not somehow super special. And everyone IS special in their own way- but when....
... it comes to school and career- the skills are largely the same. You can game the system, change the system, learn to work with the system, or be trampled by the system. School is mostly about providing a basic education so that those who lack the tallent and/or privelage to do more arent a liability to society, an impediment to those who can figure things out- and those who can take the tools and a loose game plan or expectations and realize them have a solid foundation to build on. Life has no instructions. You aren’t told exactly how to do everything or hand held through everything. Most people aren’t told you how to register a car or buy a house, how to get ahead in their career or how to manage a relationship. And having kids... oh man. So I’m sorry to the kids confused by basic math and unable to use google or turbo tax, or pay HR block $60 to figure out taxes. No one taught me to do taxes, or my parents, or their parents. The instructions are on the form. The forms and...
... information is with the IRS. You know taxes are a thing, you know the IRS is a thing. They have a website. Kids today grew up with internet. You know what google is. You can learn to do all sorts of things you WANT to do watching YouTube videos but you can’t figure out how to get the information to do your taxes? They do teach taxes in school by the way. There are adult education and skills classes, community college courses, and of course accounting classes. Why do you think people who do taxes for you charge money? They did take classes on taxes and so for those who don’t want to do that too- they’ll do it for you, but not for free. They’ve already cut down most school curriculums to exclude things like social studies or arts programs. The more they dumb things down- the truer it becomes that schools would largely serve to prepare worker drones for menial tasks. Instead of worrying about learning taxes, learn science or math and then pay someone else to do stupid crap for you.
