Technically over the course of 6 months, he only failed to impregnate her 6 times, regardless of the number of times they had sex

Incorrect. Human sperm can stay alive in the vagina for up to 7 days. Therefore ejaculation overlap with her going into heat was likely much higher than 6 times.

Assuming she has an average menstrual cycle, she likely only released an egg 6 times, presenting only 6 chances for pregnancy. Thus only 6 failed attempts

An egg is fertilized by a single sperm. Even if she only had 6 eggs released, based on the story, and without the knowledge he was sterile, he would have been firing hundreds of millions of healthy sperm at her eggs per each week she was capable of being impregnated. So, with the overlap of her menstrual cycle only occupying 1 week per month, and based on the story, that being 3 sexual encounters, it would be fair to say he tried impregnating her a over a billion times in total. However, if we calculate just based on sexual encounters, it wouldn't be less than 18 times.

This sounds like an R-rated version of when the tea spills in eighth grade and you hear the story from ten different people
