We had a similar debate in my psychology tutorial about whether violent video games cause aggression or not. We came to a conclusion that humans are probably just garbage. But now we are a somewhat civilised sort of garbage.
violent video games have actually been proven to release aggression. It's almost like going to the gym and beating on a punching bag instead of actually punching someone.
Don't forget that was usually "to the death". But at least admire their commitment to their sensibilities. They were willing to risk death, or at the very least a bullet and/or prison (dueling was outlawed way before it stopped being the go to problem solver) to backup their offense.
Exactly. Nowadays people are getting offended for everything because it gets them attention and they don't really have to do anything. Just play the victim card.
Back then the "victim" would have to have the guts to stand there and shoot and get shot at by his "oppressor".
I admit, it's not a good study, but none of the others on the counter point good studies either.
While an opinion piece, still a good read: http://theconversation.com/its-time-to-end-the-debate-about-video-games-and-violence-91607
I should edit that above comment and take out the word "proven". I'm not gonna though, I said it.
so... edit: I was drunk and used "proven" wrong.
