Animals belong where we put them, because they don't have rights.

animals have rights in exactly the same way that humans have rights, if the governments they are under the jurisdiction of decide they have rights they do and they tend to be covered in animal cruelty laws in the case of non-human animals.

Animals have rights in America. A short list compared to actual people but a set of rights laid out in animal cruelty laws, more of which I might add than comparable treatment of owned humans of a similar situation. That's why you basically can't have animals in circuses.

Protective laws aren't the same thing as rights, don't confuse them.
