Avatar is great. Iroh is best uncle

Avatar is amazing. What is also amazing is there are similarities between the two and yet avatar showed it could be done well. There are several sources that claim or allude to a planned 4th season as well as to the budget cuts to the show. Both GOT and avatar had a Hollywood movie step in near the end (avatar>avatar movie, GOT>Star Wars,) that took attentions and resources from the ending. There are threads left hanging at the end of the show and arks that get a bit rushed or truncated near the end- but avatar remained focused on the characters journeys and the integrity rather than huge set pieces and getting to the end. So even though both shows suffered some often similar challenges at the last run- avatar still managed to deliver and leave us wanting more after as opposed to wishing that what came before had been done better.

Honestly the show still stands up, I will show it to my kids, it’s the nostalgia that makes it great, it’s the range of emotions the storylines make me go through, the changes in character motivation, the hardships that the characters face, for a kids show it was beyond mature

I never got into Legend of Korra but boy howdy do I rewatch the everloving heck out of Avatar.

Season 2 of Avatar is one of my favorite seasons ever. Depending on the day you ask me, The Crossroads of Destiny is my favorite episode of all time, too.
