It wasn't until male dinos started showing up that things went to pieces.

Well, in the book the Raptors were also male. So there's that.

Title, sir. They weren't intended or designed to be male.

A quick reminder that Hammond actually does make a comment that he should be the one going with Muldoon to restore power, because she is a woman, and she just rolls her eyes at him, and tells him they'll talk about "sexism in survival situations" when she gets back. Hammond isn't demonized for it either. The film treats him as a man of integrity who just has some old-fashioned ideas.

Basically he gets a patpat on the head and told to go sit down.

In the book the boy was older and the hacker the girl was younger and generally useless. They just reversed it for the movie. Pretty much everything the children do that was beneficial in the movie was done by the boy in the book.

The book was just something else entirely. Hammond was an ass who we were happy to get killed. Ellie was just a grad student with borderline hero worship. Malcolm DIED, yet somehow was resurrected for the sequel. And DON'T get be started on the BABY RAPTOR
