I've been thinking about my Whataburger times... reminiscing as they'd say... and I want to hear about experiences from my other Texan brethren. I'll go first, obviously:
In HS, Whataburger was one of a few places to go before basketball games to load up on carbs so you had energy for game time. Kentacohut and Popeyes were dangerous gambles and they closed the Fazoli's.
After I came back from college, I noticed Whataburger turned into "The Continental" from John Wick... before John Wick. Drunks, stoners, cops, truck drivers... everyone was at peace as long as you didn't fuck with the staff or antagonize anyone else. Even if... say a drunk antagonized a stoner, the cops would let them go out and fight and then arrest the loser for assault.... but really because they interrupted the cops' meal. It literally had the unspoken protection a church has.
It has also been labeled a "State treasure".
If this really is the end, let us remember it as it was. RIP. <3 ;_;
This is so sad.
