Lack of elegance i.e. solid structure means the code may not scale easily. However I have myself used this excuse ;-)

The real (and important) difference between shitty and good code is not if it's running or not but if another coder could modify it or just has a look at it and says: "Nope, that's your problem and i'm not going to make it mine"
