We had a neighbor growing up who had a victory garden still in their garden from ww2. They would keep as much as they use but than just give it for free to their neighbors. We would get fresh tomatoes, potatoes, yams, apples, oranges, and even fresh herbs. During the summer they gave us even a watermelon.
Meanwhile my mom would try to grow things and all we got was a enough okra to make maybe 1 gumbo and tiny carrots lol.
In America, in my old neighborhood-people used to just walk into my fenced in yard and take oranges and lemons and fruit from the trees around my house. I didn’t stop them. There were like 8 lemon trees alone. What the hell am I going to do with all those lemons?
You know.... I dig your entrepreneurial spirit- but to be honest... even if it were worth my time to harvest and sell lemons, for what lemons sell for I’d rather that someone who needs it just take it and have the lemon. Generally speaking if I have something extra I don’t want I’d just as soon give it to someone who does.
Sit on your front lawn and peg kids in the head and then go "bwahahahahahaha, Lemonhead!"... I dunno. There are a bunch of peach trees around here and nobody cares if you're on a walk and grab one.
Yes, and some homeless people too. But the main idea with this is to share with neighbours and people going past. The owner said she gave out about 200 bags of apples that year.

Doesn't stop anyone from doing it within the neighborhood.
