Someone reads a paragraph then they call on the next person and they read a paragraph and on and on and on.
The point is, it's not up to the teacher, but the students. It also makes it so everyone usually follows along. I always wound up reading ahead though, just because it was faster.
Mine started in grade four, when, rather than asking students to raise their hands to answer questions, the teacher would just call our names at random to answer it. I’d rehearse the answer over and over in my head, just in case.
Oh yeah, and then it's getting close to you and you just want it to end, but then the one kid (with a twat name like Kyle or Corey) that has never read anything in their entire life is called and takes up half an hour, so you think that class is going to end before you get your turn, so you calm down and then he finishes just in time for you to have your turn reading and you just freak out.
Not when I'm stuttering from anxiety because everyone's looking at me and expecting me to show them how it's done.

I just liked outreading everybody in the class.
Hey fuckers, I may not be good at sports or anything but at least I can sightread above my grade level.
I still do that. I freaked out today when I couldn't practice. Lady randomly called me to read a paragraph out loud!
It was a case study. I was in a continuing education course. I have had a Doctorate for 5 years. This is not going away!
