So that the litter doesn’t go everywhere when the cat attempts to dig a 5 foot deep hole in the box

I don’t know why litter boxes don’t come with a small obstacle course in its entrance ensuring that the cat doesn’t just confetti gun the whole room as they exit XD

Makes sense. I always just use one of those combo litter/pans when I let stray cats stay the night in my apartment. They never make a mess though, and they eventually want to go back out again, which is ok

I have big closed litterboxes with an entry door and I’m entirely convinced that they somehow push a few pawfuls out this door before they exit
