The principal actually works- and they don’t really have to even stretch it that far. For instance- if they “out” spider man- Peter Parker would have to move- change his alter ego able etc. leave aunt may, and they just can’t reference things specific to the “Peter Parker” IP- so he can send money or wrote letters to his “Aunt” and he can enroll in a high school or college under a fake name. He can have flash backs and reference things from Infinity war etc as long as they aren’t SPECIFIC to the trade marked and protected IP of the character owned by Sony. He can easily dawn a new costume to further disguise himself- and tony stark can be said to have made it- or it could be a prototype he didn’t finish etc. they could give him a different name to match the new suit and maybe some new abilities from it... so they could actually keep the character pretty easily just by doing some story swapping.

Like 25 years ago WCW had a wrestler named Arachnaman. Marvel sued them, and the dude only wrestled three matches.

I would be more upset, but Marvel just announced three new shows in addition to the ton of other shit they got going on.
Marvel built themselves back up with Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, all of whom used to be B and C list characters. They really don't need Spider-Man anymore.
