I was watching a recipe video the other day wondering why we have quite literally every pastry and food and cuisine known to man but we’ve somehow skipped pie. I should make one although I do prefer to have a frame of reference when I bake. Oh well
I could see your conundrum. Pie is a pretty easy one and hard one at the same time- because of the fact that there are so many types and varieties. Simply crushing up any kind of graham cracker, cookie, “biscuit” etc. with some egg to make a crust- or using a dough like strudel or baklava etc for a crust- filing is just as much all over the place from custards to cut up fruit and or syrup, puddings, etc. there are even pies that use root vegetables! I’m not sure where you’re from or what culture- but almost everyone has if not an analog than dishes which can be combined to make some type of pie. I can certainly understand a desire for a frame of reference though. Truth be told though- pretty much any “crust” and “filling” will make a pie that would be as “authentic” since there’s so much variety in pie.
I’ve had dishes that could count as pie considering the existence of a crust and a filling of some sort but you know how movies really make a big deal out of those classic pies left to cool on windowsills? Damn I’d like to try one of those that will physically levitate me towards it
lol. I can relate. Funny enough- those are actually very uncommon to see, at least in my experience, even where pie is very common. I wish you luck though. You’ll get your pie. I know it.
You mean to tell me pies with the power to lift human beings don’t exist? I’ve been living a lie D: next time I travel I’ll have “get pie” on the list of things to do
