It's like when they went hog wild when players broke into their testing room with all the guns and suits and stuff, :/ They got mad for not making a secure enough game.
I have loved fallout since I played the first game when it came out in the 90’s. Actually- since I played wasteland 1 in the late 80’s technically. Lol. The idea of a fallout mmo put me off. Having hordes of player characters on the same map...? It seemed against the core of the genre. But I thought- no. There are ways to get around that. When I heard “no npcs” I was again aghast. Then I thought: wow. What a great idea. They’ll create rich class and skill based play with mechanics to incentivize and reward players to create a game world and take on roles of NPC’s! People who like to craft and scavenge will run shops and the like- people who specialize in healing will become doctors and such- find settlements and groups to protect them and in exchange provide services!
People can hard role play like a less involved fallout EVE- where players build and administer towns and the like. Perhaps there will be mechanics for “raiders” and the like as player characters?! The PK’s and griefers can play as an integral part of the game- fighting turf wars with other gangs, having power struggles and posing a threat to travelers and settlements (with some mechanics to make defenders have an advantage etc.) wow.
I thought “yeah. Not everyone will be a “savior of the world” or “lone badass” but you’ll have lots of options to play in ways that you’ll find fun. Perhaps skills would gain “experience” instead of players- leveling what you actually use so that those who don’t play as combat specialists can level by crafting and healing and bartering and sneaking and the like- and you can’t just run out with some tank friends to fight battles you’d die in and gain 40 levels ten sink it into non related skills to game levels in other skills.
I thought they might hide complex lore throughout the game and you’d have bounties and bounty hunters, wanderers, guns for hire, scavengers, people seeking history and lore of the old world, all this stuff. Maybe a system where lv 1 or 1000 a rocket to the face kills any human not in power armor- that sort of thing.
I’m saddened to see what the game became- but some people enjoy it so I’m happy for them. Someone enjoying the game- who isn’t taking away from other players- should not be punished in my mind. Lord knows that anyone playing the mess they delivered should probably be catered to by the devs at this point.
Also who tf is downvoting us, we're both right
Huh, deja vu
