not cryogenics?

cryogenics involves freezing tissues, freezing is often associated with ice, so i like the concept but in practice it's kind of horrifying to promise people that their dying, or dead loved ones can be cured in the future. It is horrifying because there is a lot of room for failure. Some examples are contamination of the capsule, failure of the temperature regulator, loss of power, and many things. This is all before we even tackle the fundamental issue. Cells that are frozen get ripped apart when they thaw, since the volume of water expands during freezing, it also contracts during melting. Meaning the cells are very very much dead. The hope is twofold then. That by the time a cure is found for the disease your loved one suffers from there is also a solution to the whole frozen tissue thing.

well obviously there's a million ways that it can fail, but the reward vastly outweighs the risk

I'm just thinking of current tech, also reading more on it, it comes down to the rate that your caretakers(doctors? scientists?) thaw you, There needs to be more testing on the reanimation of frozen cells. So it doesn't work now. Maybe more investment into research and development might make cryogenics/cryonics a more viable option to life prolongation. Still for me it's all in the future, and not in the now.
