It's latin american, mostly used as a derogative term but when you use it like this 'hijo de tu puta madre' it isn't actually refered to one's mother but more like a normal insult
A few years ago, we were 4 friends watching this beautiful movie. It was around 3 am, we had been working all week. 10 minutes later, they were two watching the movie while me and a guy were having a fit of laughter outside the room we had just been kicked out of.
I simply cannot see it without thinking of this "la puta" moment.
The film wasn’t called “La Puta” in many Spanish or related speaking countries. This is actually quite common. It’s called “localization.” A word that sounds cool to speakers of one language might sound lame to another. A word that means one thing can have another- possibly dirty or offensive or humorous meaning in another. Even the ways concepts and names impact people of different cultures is different. Some countries have since changed to the original “la puta” on re releases.
