What the fuck is wrong with America???
Let say you have developed medical care with affective medicines and other treatments.
But what's the point of all of those fancy things if most people either can't afford it or go in debt bc of it that they wish they didn't get the treatment in the first place.
My mom is a twin with my uncle.
For their 50th birthday they gave them framed the doctor bills and a few other trinkets of their birth.
Right on my moms bill it says she was charged for a circumcision.
We all laughed about it. Say stuff like well that explains alot lol.
I couldn't go to Indonesia with the Peace Corps because the only audiologist in my state didn't fill out the paperwork correctly then bounced out to mountains of New Hampshire.
this is ridiculous we need to change things let's get the government to double our taxes so we can get health care like other countries. whose with me?
Way to conveniently ignore the cost of health insurance. The increase in taxes would be less than the cost of health insurance, as insurance companies are for-profit (and they have had record setting profits the past 5 years), while government run healthcare is non-profit. If we can also get rid of that stupid non-negotiable drug price crap, that lets pharmaceutical companies price-gouge, the overall cost would go down 80%. Who the fuck cares who you are paying if you get the same treatment, but it costs you 80% less?
nice fantasy that's not how any of it would go. first the insurance companies have lobbyist and deep pockets so they aren't going any where. and no politician will slit their own throats even suggesting getting rid of them. second i don't know any countries with government ran health care that i'd rather go to when i'm sick. politician will always find a way to take most of the money so it will always be shity service. third what country has Government medicine with taxes that are even close to ours? the cost wont go down. fourth lose the non-negotiable drug price crap and what medicine won't be discovered in the future? we aren't just paying for the cost of the meds we pay for all the stuff that failed trying to figure it out and all the stuff that fails in the future trying to get the next med. im not saying meds aren't expensive but how much can we lower the cost with out changing the future research? and i'm not saying what we got is good but its alot better them most places.
LOL 1) That's a whole other problem that needs addressing. 2) Go read anecdotal claims from people who have experienced both, nearly are prefer their system over ours. 3) Again, yes, taxes increase, but you aren't paying for insurance, the cost offsets. 4) Don't let them advertise (after all, what's the point of that anyway? Do you really think people go to the doctor and request Lyrica? No. They spend more on advertising than they do on R&D. We're the only country that even allows them to advertise. 5) Currently, for most of our drugs, the cost here is between 3x-1,000x the prices elsewhere. Soooo... we can lower the costs a lot. Think about this: Health insurance companies saw more than $20 billion in pure profit last year (meaning after expenses). Pharmaceutical companies made a total of over $50 billion in pure profit. Where are they going to get the money? Are you fucking kidding me? Ooh, the stock doesn't grow as expected... big whoop.
Another question, on some level companies re-invest profits to expand their business or develop new ideas... what the fuck do insurance companies do? Regional monopolies are in place, so they don't have to worry about customer base... that leaves, what? Better customer service?! BWAH. BWAHAHAHAHHAHA... again not with those regional monopolies.
ya all and all we are about on the same page slightly different views but close. basically i just don't think it would be cheaper it could be but wouldn't be. like most things with government just to many snouts in the trough. and ya don't get me started on advertising i still don't understand it. Doesn't my doctor know what meds to prescribe me? now that i think about it over the last fifty years half the doctor i saw i wouldn't trust to play with a paddle ball without losing a eye but that's a whole different topic lol.
