Jess and Georgia taught(thought?) it was a good idea to cross the finish line together holding hands, instead of 1st and 2nd place they got disqualified. Girlpower!

Uhm why did they get disqualified? If they crossed the finish line at the same time without touching it would've been okay right? What's the deal?

Because they had fallen foul of the International Triathlon Union’s competition rule 2:11f, which states that triathletes must not “finish in a contrived tie situation where no effort to separate the finish times has been made”
