Oh lord. If you have solar panels, bike around, grow your own native vegetables with toilet water and only bathe in the rain- kudos. If you want to Fly to Hawaii and go on a helicopter tour for a treat how is it fair to bust your balls? The truth is that you don’t know his life. He likely doesn’t go that far- but what does he do? What’s his foot print look like? Take a shorter shower and get a 6cyl Camry instead of the 4 if you want. Use more electricity but then compost 90% of your trash.

Harsh truth y’all- Hybrids and electric cars and renewable bamboo butt plugs and hats that double as bird houses blah blah. They aren’t “saving the environment.” They’re designed so that anyone with the money can still have all the luxuries and conveniences they’re used to but MAYBE reduce their impact doing it- or maybe just feel that way. Creation to retirement the data doesn’t support a prius being ultimately better for the environment than a freaking hummer. Electrical devices use most of their resources in construction not use. They mine up heavy metals and leave behind toxic waste we have no safe way to handle long term. If you drive a hummer 10 Miles then junk it and drive a Tesla 10 Miles then junk it- he hummer is cleaner!

Now- the BIGGEST impacts to the environment aren’t your cars or your stupid plastic straws or your choice of laundry soap. For a 330 mile trip, a 747 will release about 33 tons of just CO2. A FULL load will be about 416 people. Drive between the same two points (let’s add about 60 Miles since it isn’t as the crow flies for a car. Keep it fair.) You could drive about 336 gasoline 4cyl compacts. With 4 people loaded per car that’s... more people. Way more. Point is- Planes, industry, etc. are the major polluters.

Before Bush Jr. took office major laws were signed making major factories and industrial facilities responsible for putting emissions equipment on their facilities. Just a few of these would make it so we could all drive hummers and not see pollution increase. That bill was canned shortly after Bush Jr. took over. So... yeah. Every little bit helps but people aren’t going to give up all their stuff and live like eco monks- nor should they have to if we can get big industry and business to do its part.
