Preach. It was awesome. And fun. Perfect? I’d say no. Better than so much dribble and interesting though. A solid film that gets lumped in with garbage unjustly. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea- but not a bad movie even if you don’t appreciate the film. I rather like it and would be happy to have a solid sequel. There are many more stories to tell there.
personally i thought it was a great movie. but movie was the wrong format for it. they should have made it in to a tv show. the movie was way to short to really get in to that world properly. done right it could of given supernatural a run for its money.
just looked it up only 13 episodes. i'll check it out but i'm beating it was pretty bad to be canceled after only 13. or was this another firefly screw up.
The problem with movies like Constantine is that you’ve got an unfamiliar property, with extensive lore and subplots etc. lots of build up and relationships. So you have one shot at the big screen and you pull the “big” climactic story lines from the franchise. You have to condense it all so that volumes of build up and set up take place before the climax and build to people caring about why this is happening. Then... if it bombs you used the best material there was, and if it takes off you can’t save the big “pay off” story for a sequel because you used it up on the first. You’ve painted yourself into a corner.

I love the character Constantine and I love Keanu Reeves, but I think I like Matt Ryan as Constantine better imho. For me, it's the same as Ryan Reynolds = Deadpool, Hugh Jackman = Wolverine, Matt Ryan = Constantine
