I don’t recommend this. You might think that a piece of that mass the size of a gummy is the same dose. However- the actual distribution of the vitamins within that mass is not uniform. One bit may have 6 types of vitamins and the bite next to it may have none. One bite may have 10mg of vitamin C and another equally sized bite may have 50mg. Moreover- many of the vitamins or minerals may have been transformed or made inert through the heat.
Very true. In fact- in many countries (especially America) “enriched” foods mean that many people get WAY more than their allocation of certain vitamins and minerals. Many foods, in order to combat malnutrition, have added vitamins or minerals. Bread or cereal often have iron added, many foods may have calcium added, etc. etc. For many people, getting too much is perhaps even more likely than not enough. Add to that the fact in many countries (again- US is very bad at this..) Supplements are highly unregulated and may not even contain the actual substance they say they are, or may have added substances or inconsistent doses to start with.
Ouch. Hearing this and looking at your current situation with prescription drugs and the costs of medication in general, I for once am happy about our European over-regulation.
I know the systems aren't comparable, but that's one thing we got going.
lol. There are nice things to it. It’s always give and take. We’ve had several “weight loss” supplements and “pre work outs” recalled for literally having amphetamines in them and not listed on the label. Now- parts of Europe allow purchase or prescription of things that aren’t legal here- but the issue isn’t so much what is in there- but that a powerful drug could be in your supplements without anyone knowing or being told is pretty bad.
There are perks to our system too though. It all depends- less protection for more personal freedom and all that. But I think it’s good there are different ways in the world because that lets people have some choice over how they want to live.
