Not true at all. First and foremost- That’s like saying a serial killer that only kills “bad people” is a “good guy.” Define bad- define what level of “bad” deserves eternal torment- and ideologically, being just as bad as bad people doesn’t make a person good.

One could argue god “tortures” or “torments” good people- but without getting into debates about religion or Devine plans etc- 1. God doesn’t torture people forever- compared to eternity even 90 years of torment in exchange for eternal happiness isn’t a bad deal. 2. The type of “torment” one could attribute to god can at least be constructive. Can make people stronger or teach lessons they can use. Once you’re dead and locked away for eternity- what point is there? What lesson will you learn? How can harsh punishment after the fact stop future crimes when you no longer have the ability to commit them anyway? How does it in any way shape or form restore victims of transgressions, heal, make whole, undo or mitigate harm already done?

Also of important note- there is no precedent that Satan only torments the evil. The “bad guys” go to hell- where the devil is supposedly- and then he tortures them. Almost the entire body of evidence suggests the devil would gladly or will gladly torment the good if not prevented from doin so by whatever mechanisms restrain the devil. If the devil ran heaven- he’d torture those souls too.

So there isn’t really any solid argument the devil is good unless you view singular aspects without context. The devil by most accounts is the “ruler” of hell- therefore he’ll being a place of suffering and policies of torture etc. are the work of the devil- the devils vision of what a world should look like. The devil can only said to be “good” if your idea of a “good” world is hell.

Satan isn't doing a job. Satan is imprisoned in hell. He is a sinner in hell just like the mortals the only difference is that he is far more powerful. He's far more akin to a starved abused dog being locked in the same cage as a criminal than a warden.

So this has been covered many times on here, but we'll go again. Satan has zero control in hell. Satan doesn't torture anyone. Hell was created to punish Satan and his angels. Satan knows he's already lost and until he gets thrown into to hell as punishment for his sin he's going to try and drag as many down with him as he can. I'm not sure when people started believing Satan was torturing people in hell but it's probably a mixture of religions combining things like Hades the god of the Underworld and other pseudo good/bad gods that play a role in various religions afterlives.

Yes my two imaginary friends also run establishments for people who die and their bodies are burnt or buried.
