My parents never did the mouth washing out thing what they did was yelled at us for God knows how long. I just told my daughter don't say that again.
When she was little I told her never to say a bad word. We never punished her but when she did say a bad word it was so sweet she would cry. She didn't want to be a bad girl. The only time she was allowed to say a bad word was whenever she almost fell or something like that if it slipped out you know in the fear of the moment. Lol like one time when she was about five she slipped on some mud and yelled shit. Lol she didn't fall down but it was very close. She started to cry and I told her no no it's okay it was an accident remember if you say it because of accident it's okay.
When she turned 11 we told her that she could say some bad words around us but not around other adults and only certain bad words around her friends cuz they're already saying those words anyways.
She can only say: ass and shit.
My Dad used to threatened it with that, until one day I did it myself and resumed to saying bad words with bubbly foam coming out of my mouth.
