You would be wise to pay heed. What happens downstairs after 10:30pm is beyond your feeble comprehension; and even if you could, you do not have the tools to express that knowledge
Ah yes, the bathroom sink is no longer mine but their giant water bowl, when I get into bed I need to stay on my back so hobbes can sleep on my tummy, if I go into the kitchen I must fetch them a treat because they’ve been such good little floofies
My cat decides how long my parents are watching TV in the evening, while my mom's cat goes into the bedroom and wakes up everyone whenever she pleases, if she wants to cuddle or play with us.
But for the rest they're following our rules to a T, they get infront of their plates at 7:30 and 18:30 sharp because that's the time they're getting fed, they never break anything and if we ask them to "move your fat ass Princess, please" they do. I was the one who thought it was funny to teach her the latter, without "please" they won't even move a whisker.
Cat people love to be dominated, so they got that going for them...

We taught our dogs that there is no fixed standing up or going to bed time. Earliest we get up is 7-ish, latest about 10am, and they don't even bother to complain. We go to bed some time between 9:30 pm and midnight, and they sleep,in the living room until we go upstairs to sleep, then they follow. And they're beagels, so not the most obedient breed...
