As nice as nuclear power could be it’s understandably never going to be our solution. Too many people know the effects of a bad power plant so they get a bad rap. But also there’s always the risk that it devastates an area because a few people slacked somewhere down the line, and if I know one thing about humans we’re always gonna slack. At least with solar panels no one is gonna accidentally remove a city off the map for a few hundred years
Nuclear power is still promising. Passively safe systems (like the pebble-bed reactor) prevent the possibility of a meltdown. (You can separate the pebbles and the nuclear reaction stops instantly.)

Once you add gas cooling, you're fitting in with the generation IV initiative of minimizing nuclear waste.
I’m not saying that it ain’t safe. It’s one of the “safest” forms of power, but the vast majority of the public will only remember the bad times. That makes this a moot point, something can only be so helpful if no one will use it.
Yeah, sadly a lot of ethical environmental “saviors” require effort on the people’s part or a company to stop being greedy pigs. So the idea that we’ll get it fixed anytime soon is a little far off. There will always be greedy and lazy people
When you factor in the fossil fuels used to mine and refine the fuel for fission fuel they put out more CO2 per MWh than renewables. Fusion will probably be different but that's still some decades away.
Fission is a lot better than burning fossil fuels for energy though.
Build the reactors and tell nobody. I like when the government doesn't tell us everything. Especially if it's something the greenies will mess up. Also, I'm an arborist so I can professionally say greenies suck.
Like the dog treat? Just kidding, but what do you mean by “greenies” and “arborist”? And it’s be interesting if you could build one without anyone noticing
Sorry, I figured that would be obvious. Greenies are my term for the green movement individuals who are clueless. An arborist is someone who takes care of trees in some regard. My position is a tree health care technician.
Oh wow I didn’t know that about you or that that was a job in general. Anywho, I still think due to the massive size of reactors you’d be hard pressed to have it go completely unnoticed. Unless it’s in the middle of nowhere which wouldn’t be smart for the workers or utilities
A lot of people don't and I'm fairly quiet about that usually. Nature is a bit more complicated then people think. Trees are living a lot more then people think. They don't just grow.
Well, ask yourself this. What's under these Army bases? They need independent power in an attack. I haven't seen a single windmill or solar power on a base yet.
There was a plan to put the waste under Yucca Mountain but President Obama canceled the plan. Most nuclear waste is low level waste (clothes and equipment) contaminated with radioactive material. As for High Level waste, the fuel rods, can be reprocessed for reuse in reactors. This is because only part of the fuel is used up, but the United States has banned it, and many reprocessing plants around the world have closed due to the Anti-Nuclear movement. Right now only France and Japan do so. Also muck more nuclear fuel can be made, U-235 (which is what is used for fuel) only makes up 0.72% of mines Uranium. The rest, U-238, can be turned into fuel in a Breeder Reactor, which turns it into Plutonium. Unfortunately as Plutonium is used for nuclear weapons, this has been rejected out of fears of nuclear proliferation. This is my main complaint about the Climate Change Activists, they demand it be done their way, and no other; rejecting nuclear power
