They weren't home. They had to evacuate the area without being allowed to return home for their dog or anything else. They hoped and prayed and were grateful the dog was okay when they were able to return.

I don’t know about you guys but I’d be at the nearest store selling fire resistant clothing and respirators. No family left behind

I don't think I could actually do that, it would kill me leaving any of my beloved pets behind so I'd prefer to die trying to save them then die emotionally knowing they're gone.
