That’s pretty messed up. I mean- people play around like this. Maybe you say to your server who put extra cheese on your nachos something like: “I want to marry you...” jokingly. Perhaps you and your heterosexual same sex friend are joking and you say “Yeah, we plan to have a spring wedding..” or “I’ll take you dancing. You wear the dress and I’ll bring the flowers...” something like that. And I get that between a man and a woman- if you think you’re “friends” and aren’t thinking they like you- then you may joke like that too- but flat asking someone out to say no? There’s no humor there. It isn’t a clever comeback or anything- it’s just mean.
