It probably uses wifi to record results on remote storage. The fixed IP address is configured in the oscilloscope and if this person put one in from the DHCP scope then a lightbulb could easily get the same one and conflict. It’s an easy fix to just pick an address outside of the range of dynamic addresses and/or create an exclusion on the DHCP server.
Sadly, this happens ALL THE TIME in the tech world......
